Randall said the annual Tryout Programme was aimed at giving the baseball players the opportunity to play in foreign professional leagues.
The programme will hold from September 7, to September 8, at the Adewole Baseball and Softball Park, in Ilorin.

“I am in Nigeria to scout for talented players who can play in the baseball professional leagues abroad.

“I know there are many gifted players in this country that can play in any league abroad,’’ he said.

Randall said the quality of players on ground would determine the number of the players that would be selected. He said selected players would go through a final tryout with other selected African players in South Africa, in December.

“This same event will also take place in other African countries, before a final selection that will come up in South Africa,” he said.Robert Onyuikwe, Development Secretary of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA), said that 60 players would participate in the programme.

He commended MLB for its support to the development of the game in the continent.
